Delia's Magic Pen

Justin's daughter Delia, older sister of Emmett, is also brilliant, curious, mischievous, strong-willed, and a writer/illustrator of stories at age 6. She wanders our garden in the summer, stuffing leaves into bottles of water that she calls potions, so for her last birthday I got her a scent-making kit from Perfumer's Apprentice. I turned the pen from a small people of maple I had hoarded for such a purpose, and made a box from some poplar scraps; the lid is alder and walnut. I plan to present the pen to her when Emmett gets his choo-choo engine. I will remind her that she is an extraordinary storyteller and that this magical instrument will help her move her ideas from her mind to the entire world.
