Participants of this list have lost their infants to SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. They do not so much support each other as grab each other for dear life and hold on. People post with raw honesty about their pain, the problems siblings are having, callous comments from people who mean well, and, always, the guilt that they should have been able to do "something." Some posts wrestle with how this could have happened, and fortunately there several medical professionals are present as contributors - they attempt to make at least a bit sense out of these tragedies, and they offer information about support resources, books, and other aids. Many posters add the name of their child, their birthday and day of death after their own signatures as a way of honoring and remembering their babies. Participants are very easy on each other, and many stay long past their own initial grieving to help others with their loss. This is a community of heartbreak, grieving, overcoming and going on after devastating loss. - E.L.
