Freelancers offers a place for writers and journalists to talk about the freelance life and its many ups and downs. Participants include both fiction and non-fiction writers, newcomers and seasoned pros. Many of the topics discussed deal with the business side of being a freelancer, which is the source of questions about multiple queries, self-syndication, how to get your first byline, good sources for research, and where to find decent insurance. The creative side of the business isn't ignored, though, as writers share tips on finding ideas, muddling through writer's block, and dealing with the many creative challenges that face journalists as well as fiction writers. Along with the information exchange, participants offer each other support and encouragement from their first query all the way to publication.
