The people who frequent the Fatfree mailing list and other resources are strict vegetarians who consume very little fat. Driven by the devotion of the list and website owner, this group has grown over the years and has very heavy daily traffic. Along the way there have been major flame wars, much discussion about the group's mission, and ultimately, many no-nonsense rules laid down by the mailing list owner. The people who remain are extremely dedicated to their chosen dietary lifestyle, slightly evangelical about it, and fiercely loyal to each other and the list administrator. The support members give to each other leaps off the screen - these people are *there* for each other in the extreme. One of the best qualities of this group is the many members with credentials in nutrition or who are more than well-read. Misinformation is rare and quickly corrected. - E.L.
