AmberMUSH is a role-playing community of more than 500 people based on the Amber novels written by Roger Zelazny. Scheming, plotting, and politics among the various personalities are all in a day's work for the characters of AmberMUSH, where the emphasis is on role-playing rather than combat (although combat may occur to support the story lines), and complex characters interact to create a rich narrative. Role-playing in AmberMUSH without having read the books is kind of like touring New York City without knowing the history: you could do it, but it doesn't have as much meaning. AmberMUSH has a well-established history and dedicated following, evidenced by the extensive Web pages devoted to it. Be sure to read some of the logs and history pages to get a sense of the exciting interactions and stories possible in AmberMUSH. - T.H.
