What life can compare with this?
Gary Wolf wrote this article about me a few years ago for the Reed College alumni magazine. It makes it seem as if my life has passed very quickly. Which it has. I chose for the title of my undergraduate thesis a poem attributed to the Zen poet Seccho, which seems now to have accurately foreshadowed my life:
What life can compare with this?
Sitting alone by the window,
I watch the leaves fall,
the flowers bloom,
the seasons come and go.
